There are a lot of truck bed accessory options out there. Ultimately, what drove you to DiamondBack?

Jon: When I travel and go off-grid for adventures, I often times have expensive gear, and supplies that I want protected from the elements. I have had prior experiences with soft tonneau covers, they quickly become more of a liability than an asset. The Diamondback HD was the only choice that gave me the security and ruggedness that I demanded.

While we may all dream 24/7 about that one spot, or our next outing. On a typical day, where would we find you?

Jon: I am medically retired from the military so while that did come at a cost, I do enjoy spending time training my service dog, keeping up on firearms and outdoor proficiency. I also find myself volunteering in various capacities around my local community.

You’re headed out on a weekend trip. Where are you headed?

Jon: For weekend trips, I’d say Disney, Oklahoma to hone my off-roading chops, or skirt the Ozarks in Arkansas if I’m chasing a more scenic venture.

Free time is a rarity. What made you decide to spend yours overlanding?

Jon: I wanted to see more of this great nation and the wilderness areas that we have access to. I was already into camping and backpacking, so when I bought my Tacoma it was an obvious transition.

What is the key to a successful overland excursion?

Jon: Overlanding is about getting out in the great outdoors, experiencing new landscapes and the thrill of exploring territories sometimes not seen before. While there are many factors that contribute to a successful outing, one characteristic rises to the top – the willingness to push your comfort zones.

What is something you’ll never hit the trail without?

Jon: I’d say my truck is 100% trail ready anytime. The security my DiamondBack provides means it’s always loaded-out with essentials. With that said, Athena, my service dog would be something I'd never hit the trail without.

Jon: Recovery gear… And snacks, lots of snacks…
